How does a trimless recessed spotlight work?

Trimless downlights work in the same way as other LED downlights, only the installation is slightly different. Trimless spotlights have a special frame that you first fix into the ceiling. Then you can finish plastering the ceiling, whereby the frame is plastered along and is no longer visible. The edge of the spotlight is completely covered by the plaster, leaving only the light source visible.

What is the difference between a trimless recessed spot and a regular recessed spot?

The main difference between a trimless downlight and a regular downlight lies in the finish and installation. While regular recessed spotlights often have a visible edge that frames the fixture, the trimless spotlight is designed to be incorporated seamlessly into the ceiling, with no edge visible. This creates a much tighter and minimalist look, with the lighting completely blending into the ceiling.

In addition, the installation of a trimless spotlight is more specialised, as the stucco frame has to be incorporated into the ceiling before the spotlight itself is mounted. With regular recessed spotlights, installation is usually simpler, as they are merely inserted into a predetermined recess. Trimless spotlights therefore require a bit more time and precision during installation, but the result is then a much more elegant and modern look.

However, not every dimmer is suitable for LED technology. So make sure you choose a dimmer compatible with trimless LED recessed spotlights.
