HDMI ARC cable for the Audio Return Channel

HDMI ARC is an acronym that you may have read before when looking for a new television, receiver or cabling. ARC stands for Audio Return Channel, which means that the HDMI cable can act as a channel through which the audio can be returned. When a receiver or soundbar is connected to the TV using HDMI, the HDMI cable ensures that the picture from the connected sources is shown on the TV. A separate signal runs through the HDMI cable and can send information from one device to the other, in both directions. For example, you can use the TV remote to control the Blu-ray player that is connected via HDMI cable, or you can have a soundbar with HDMI-CEC and HDMI-ARC next to the TV that automatically switches on when the TV is turned on. So there's no need to do anything else when you turn on the TV - the sound comes directly from the soundbar. You can then use the TV's remote control to adjust the volume.
