Bypass for LED dimmers

When you connect dimmable lighting to a dimmer, your lamps may flicker or not switch off at low dimming settings. This can happen because the dimmer is 2-wire or because you have very energy efficient LED lamps in your circuit. A dimmer bypass helps to prevent this.

When and how to use a bypass?

A bypass is generally used when you have less than 25 watts of lighting connected to your dimmer. Then the dimming is so low that it can cause interference.
You install the bypass near the lamp, between the switched phase wire (usually black) and the blue neutral wire.

Note: You can only use the bypass if you are using Leading Edge. Also check carefully that you are using dimmable LED lighting in your circuit.

Still getting interference?

If you are still experiencing interference at certain times of the day after installing a parallel bypass, it is possible that the network operator is sending a signal down the line at that time. There is little you can do about it.
